Sally Chambers appointed as new Executive Director of the IMPACT Centre of Competence in digitisation

The IMPACT Centre of Competence in digitisation is proud to announce the appointment of Sally Chambers as IMPACT’s new Executive Director. 
As Executive Director, Sally will be responsible for closely working with Centre members and the Executive Board in order to outline the IMPACT action plan for the upcoming years and improving IMPACT’s portfolio of services and alliances.

Sally brings over 15 years of experience as a qualified library and information professional in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. She will combine this role with her work as DATA-KBR-BE Project Coordinator at KBR, the Royal Library of Belgium and Digital Humanities Research Coordinator at the Ghent Centre for Digital Humanities, Ghent University. She is also Chair of the DARIAH-EU National Coordinator Committee.

Sally is the right person for this job, and we are very happy that she has accepted the challenge. The Impact Centre is very proud to have such an expert to take the lead.

Sally will take over the role of Francis Ballesteros, former IMPACT Executive Director since its creation in December 2012.

About the IMPACT Centre of Competence in digitisation

The Impact Centre of Competence in Digitisation is a not for profit organisation, composed of public and private institutions, with the mission to make the digitisation of historical printed text “better, faster, cheaper”. It provides tools, services and facilities to further advance the state-of-the-art in the field of document imaging, language technology and the processing of historical text.

The Impact Centre of Competence is governed by a Board of institutions (premium members) and it is located at the facilities of the Fundación General de la Universidad de Alicante in Alicante. The daily management of the IMPACT Centre is performed by a Manager, a Director, a Scientific and Technological Director and the Chair of the Executive Board.
