IMPACT also develops three experimental OCR tools:
- Wordspotting (developed by NCSR Demokritos) – based on the recognition of complete words
- Inventory Extraction (developed by the University of Innsbruck) – makes use of character clustering
- Typewritten OCR (developed by PRImA, Universiteit van Salford) – for typewritten documents
