RASM2019: ICDAR2019 Competition on Recognition of Historical Arabic Scientific Manuscripts

The IMPACT Centre of Competence members the British Library and PRImA (Pattern recognition and Image Analysis Research Lab of the University of Salford), together with the Alan Turing Institute, are organising a competition on Recognition of Historical Arabic Scientific Manuscripts (RASM2019) in the frame of ICDAR 2019.

The British Library's collection of Arabic Manuscripts is one of the largest in Europe and North America with ca. 15,000 works.

The main aim of the competition is to find an optimal solution for the automatic transcription of this vast manuscript collection in order to improve the accessibility.

Important dates:

  • 25 April, 2019: Registration deadline
  • 15 April, 2019: Dataset download open
  • 26 April, 2019: Results and executables submission deadline.
  • ICDAR2019: Results announced.
