Impact Centre of Competence Annual General Meeting - Summary

On December 11th, 2015, the Impact Centre of Competence held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Alicante. This meeting is open to all member of the Centre and it has as objective, apart from designing the vision of the Centre in the next year, to provide our members a forum to share expertise and showcase their latest advances in digitisation and related fields.

Kick-off workshop of the IMPACT-OPF MOOC on digitisation and digital preservation @TPDL2015

Last September 18th, the Impact Centre of Competence and the Open Preservation Foundation organised a kick-off workshop for their new MOOC on Digitisation and Digital Preservation which  will be launched soon. The workshop took place in Poznań (Poland) within the International Conference TPDL 2015.

New Chair of the Impact Centre of Competence Board

The Instituut voor Nederlandse Lexicologie (INL) has become the new Chair-elect of the Impact Centre of Competence Board through its Director, Martin Everaert. Thus, INL takes over from Koninklijke Bibliotheek after 3 successful years.

BIT Entreprise, new member of the Impact Centre of Competence

The French company B.I.T (Bureau Ingénieur Tomasi), with headquarters in Touluse, has become member of the Impact Centre of Competence. B.I.T is a family-run company that offers services of OCR treatment and it is the developer of the software BIT Alpha.

The Impact Centre of Competence has signed a memorandum of understanding with the EU-funded project PREFORMA for a stronger cooperation.

The University of Guadalajara will coordinate the Latin American chapter of IMPACT

The University of Guadalajara has joined the Center of Competence in Digitisitation as a Premium member. It is the first institution in Latin America to become a member of IMPACT.

The Swiss Federal Archives become a new Impact member

The Swiss Federal Archives (SFA) have joined the Centre of Competence Impact. With the addition of this institution are already 39 members that make up this international organization dedicated to the research and development of tools for digitizing texts and historical documents.

The European Commission has rated as 'Excellent' the Succeed project results

The final evaluation of the Succeed project took place yesterday, 19th of February, at the University of Alicante during a meeting of the committee of experts appointed by the European Commission (EC) with the Succeed consortium members, formed by the University of Alicante, the Virtual Library Miguel de Cervantes Foundation, the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, the Instituut voor Nederlandse Lexicologie, the Fraunhofer IAIS, the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center, the University of Salford, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the British Library. The meeting was chaired by Cristina Maier, Succeed Project Officer from the European Commission.
