The Impact Centre of competence is pleased to announce that a new member has joined us: BIT Entreprise. This addition consolidates a project born in 2011 with the support of the European Commission. We keep growing!

New Chair of the Impact Centre of Competence Board

The Instituut voor Nederlandse Lexicologie (INL) has become the new Chair-elect of the Impact Centre of Competence Board through its Director, Martin Everaert. Thus, INL takes over from Koninklijke Bibliotheek after 3 successful years.

Fundación Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes at TPDL2015

Fundación Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes (FBVMC), founding member and manager of the Impact Centre of Competence, will participate on September 15th in TPDL 2015, organised this year by Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Centre (also founding members of the Centre).

OCR/NER workshop at the DH Summer School (Leuven, 8 September)

In the course of 2014, colleagues from various divisions of the University Library of KU Leuven (Belgium) were involved in testing tools for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and NER (Named Entity Recognition), developed in the framework of the Support action Centre for Competence in Digitisation (Succeed).

The French company B.I.T (Bureau Ingénieur Tomasi), with headquarters in Touluse, has become member of the Impact Centre of Competence. B.I.T is a family-run company that offers services of OCR treatment and it is the developer of the software BIT Alpha.
